About this course
Hypnobirthing is often misunderstood as a fringe practice or a technique for guaranteeing a pain-free birth. Neither framing captures what it actually is: a structured approach to birth preparation that uses self-hypnosis, deep relaxation, and visualization to work with the body's own physiology rather than against it. Understanding the evidence base and the underlying logic makes it possible to evaluate hypnobirthing honestly and use it effectively.
By the end of this course you will be able to explain the fear-tension-pain cycle in the context of labor, describe the physiological mechanisms through which deep relaxation affects uterine muscle function, define self-hypnosis accurately and distinguish it from its popular misconceptions, and evaluate the current evidence on hypnobirthing outcomes.
