From Preconception to a Healthy First Trimester: Continuity and Care
Apply continuity strategies that carry preconception health into pregnancy, including provider choice, early prenatal care, and lifestyle adjustments.
About this course
Preconception health is most powerful when it carries directly into early pregnancy. The first trimester is when many critical processes happen and when many healthy habits are tested by early pregnancy symptoms. This applied course addresses that continuity.
By the end of this course you will be able to choose a prenatal care provider thoughtfully, plan early prenatal visits, adjust nutrition and lifestyle for first-trimester realities, communicate with your partner and workplace as appropriate, and recognize signs that warrant earlier evaluation.
What you will learn:
- How to choose between obstetrician, family physician, and midwifery models of care
- How to plan the first prenatal visit and what to expect from early prenatal care
- How to adjust nutrition and movement when nausea, fatigue, and food aversions appear
- How to manage early symptoms without abandoning the habits built during preconception
- How to plan communication with a partner, family, and workplace about pregnancy at the timing that fits you
- How to handle early pregnancy loss risks and what signs warrant clinical evaluation
- How to integrate the rest of life including travel, work, and existing children into the first trimester
The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a provider decision memo, a first-visit prep sheet, a first-trimester nutrition plan, a workplace and family communication plan, a warning-signs checklist, and a life-integration plan.
This course is written for individuals and couples actively trying to conceive or in very early pregnancy. By the end you will move from preconception preparation to confident early pregnancy navigation, with the continuity that makes the work of the previous months pay off.
