About this course

The rise of artificial intelligence is transforming how software is written, but core engineering skills remain more important than ever. To succeed in this changing landscape, you must learn how to collaborate with AI tools rather than view them as a replacement. This course teaches you how to integrate AI coding assistants into your daily development workflow. You will discover how to treat AI as a collaborative pair programmer, helping you write cleaner code faster while maintaining strict quality, security, and testing standards. What you'll learn: - Understand the foundational concepts of generative AI and how modern code assistants function - Apply effective prompt engineering techniques to generate accurate, high-quality code snippets - Practice collaborative pair-programming with AI to debug errors and refactor legacy code - Implement robust testing workflows to verify and validate AI-generated code - Navigate the security, copyright, and privacy considerations of using AI tools in software development You will start by exploring the fundamentals of AI-assisted development and setting up your environment. From there, you will progress through practical reading exercises, code analysis, and strategic prompt design, learning how to direct AI tools to solve real-world programming challenges. This course is designed for beginner developers, students, and aspiring software engineers who want to build modern coding habits from day one. No prior experience with AI assistants is required. Start reading today and master the essential skills of the modern, AI-empowered developer.

Very approachable even if you're newer to coding. Would have liked another example or two on testing workflows, otherwise no complaints.

It's a solid course. The structure is logical and most of the examples were helpful. Could use a few more real-world scenarios though.

Really thoughtful course. It doesn't oversell the tools or pretend AI writes perfect code, which I respected. Instead it teaches you a healthy back and forth where you stay the one making decisions. I especially liked the emphasis on reading and understanding generated code rather than just accepting it. Came out of it more confident and, weirdly, a better programmer overall because I'm more deliberate about what I'm actually asking for.

Practical and to the point, learned enough to change how I work day to day.

What I appreciated most was that it doesn't just teach you to copy-paste. It keeps pushing you to understand what the assistant generated so you can actually maintain it later.

My debugging speed doubled once I understood how to feed the AI the right context.

Really clear explanations and the debugging examples were great. Only nitpick is I wanted more depth on prompt techniques, but what was there was solid.

Honestly the biggest thing I took away was learning to verify instead of blindly trusting. Saved me from shipping a couple of subtle bugs the AI was very confident about. Great use of my time.

Hmm, I'm not sure this is for absolute beginners. It assumes a bit of prior knowledge that wasn't explicitly taught. Some examples were confusing.

This was exactly what I needed. I'd been using Copilot for months but had no real method to it. The course gave me a proper mental model for how to prompt, when to accept a suggestion, and when to step back and write it myself. The testing section was a nice surprise, I never thought to have the assistant help me generate edge cases before. My reviews at work have gotten noticeably faster and my teammates keep asking what changed. The pacing was good and nothing felt like filler.

Good introduction to the topic. The structure was logical, and most of the examples were relevant, though I wished for more depth in certain areas.

Great balance between using the tools and building real skills. I no longer feel like I'm cheating when I use AI, I feel like I'm working faster and still learning.

Finally learned how to actually prompt these AI assistants instead of just accepting whatever they spit out.

I was pretty skeptical about these AI coding tools going in, honestly thought it would just make me lazy. This course completely changed how I think about it. The key thing it drilled into me is that the assistant is only as good as the context and prompt you give it, and that you always have to verify the output before you trust it. My workflow now is prompt, read carefully, test, then commit. I write cleaner code faster than I ever did before and I actually understand it. Really glad I took this.

Good practical coverage of Copilot, though I wish there had been a bit more on writing tests with AI.

Good course overall and I got a lot out of it. The parts on debugging with an AI assistant were the strongest, walking through how to describe the bug and iterate on the fix really clicked for me. The prompting section felt a little rushed compared to the rest and I think a couple of the examples could have been more advanced. Still, I left with a workflow I actually use every day now, so I can't complain too much. Would recommend to anyone who wants to use these tools seriously instead of just guessing.

The section on when to trust the AI versus when to verify it was worth the whole course for me.

I came in already using Copilot but mostly just tab-completing blindly. This taught me to actually direct it with clear prompts and check its output properly. Feel way more in control now.
